New York Life is seeking an experienced Endpoint Security (EDR) Lead Engineer to serve as the internal technical champion and technical owner of our endpoint protection suite.

 

The EDR engineer is responsible for the ongoing design, implementation, and maintenance of endpoint security tools within NYL’s public and private cloud and end user infrastructure realms. This person should be highly technical and hands on, always ready to respond to incoming requests for tuning and developing new detection content. Deep expertise of enterprise software and operating systems is a must to quickly separate noise from legitimate security concerns. This person should also have experience working with and supervising consultants.

 

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Monitor and improve the EDR toolset. Serve as the internal champion of the tool within NYL, educate other teams on how it works.
  • Fine tune rules and create new rules in response to requests from other security and business teams.
  • Serve as a tool SME and assist incident responders when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other security and technology teams to integrate other tools with EDR.
  • Manage threat intelligence ingestion.
  • Keep up to date with planned product improvements and other industry changes.
  • Extensively plan and test agent upgrades and policy changes.
  • Work with the Operations team to supervise agent upgrades and policy changes.
  • Keep extensive documentation, share knowledge, and educate other team members.
  • Supervise and lead troubleshooting calls with business teams and end users to resolve interoperability issues as they arise.
  • Engage and provide inputs on the architectural design of the EDR tool, deploy new EDR services and endpoint security technologies / best practices.
  • Work closely with the vendor to communicate feature requests, problems, and enhancements.
  • Supervise a team of consultants responsible for day-to-day operations of the tool.
  • Be the first to embrace new features in the tool and share knowledge with the operations team.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a security engineer, with minimum 3+ years working as an EDR engineer.
  • 2-3 years of experience managing employees or supervising consultants strongly desired.
  • 7+ years overall security experience strongly desired
  • Security certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional), CompTIA Security+, SANS / GIAC incident response related certifications are preferred.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience supporting major EDR tools such as CrowdStrike Falcon, SentinelOne Singularity, and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
  • Experience working with ServiceNow Security Incident Response or ServiceNow SOAR is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary range: $117,500-$177,500
