Summary/Job Function

This position is primarily responsible for developing and implementing employee community engagement programs and events that inspire PGE employees and retirees to make a difference in the community through volunteerism and charitable giving.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development and Oversight

  • Develop innovative strategies and tactical plans designed to inspire employees to volunteer and support community-based organizations.

  • Serve as project manager of teams responsible for planning and implementing PGE’s matching gift program and annual giving campaign, meeting participation goals.

  • Oversee PGE’s employee engagement platform (myCommunity) to ensure a seamless user experience, coordinating with external vendors as needed.

  • Represent PGE as liaison with external agencies, event sponsors and other community partners.

Volunteer and Event Management

  • Identify, promote and coordinate volunteer opportunities that meet community needs, reflect the interests of employees, and align with PGE’s brand and values.

  • Recruit volunteers through campaigns, outreach, and partnerships.

  • Conduct orientation and training sessions to equip volunteers with necessary skills and information

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including community partners, to develop and deliver successful events.

  • Coordinate event needs with vendors and contractors, such as specialty event/meeting companies, audio/video producers, photographers, banner/sign companies, graphic designers, etc.

Administrative and Reporting

  • Provide administrative oversight of all aspects of PGE’s volunteer and employee giving programs, including budget monitoring, updating policies, guidelines and procedures, etc.

  • Ensure communications and key messages regarding PGE’s community involvement activities and events are strategic, consistent and updated regularly.

  • Provide data and prepare detailed written project plans and follow-up reports.

  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling, calendar management, notetaking, data entry, purchasing card reconciliation, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years of experience in public/community relations and/or event management role or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Valid driver’s license and proven safe driving record

Competencies

  • Intermediate knowledge of project management and/or event planning best practices

  • Basic knowledge of utility industry and PGE business model

  • Basic knowledge of PGE strategy, mission and vision

  • Intermediate knowledge of Oregon nonprofit community and interest in current events impacting PGE’s business and operations area

  • Strong skills in community outreach; building collaborative relationships

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking

  • Strong skills in working independently and exercising judgment
