OVERALL DESCRIPTION
Automotive Equipment Engineering & Maintenance/Engineering
SEPTA's Automotive Equipment Engineering & Maintenance Department is recruiting for a talented and professional individual to hold the position of Operations Analyst. The Operations Analyst is a critical position at SEPTA and is responsible for assisting the Senior Director (or subordinate staff) with program/project support consisting of various administrative and technical duties including financial, statistical and/or data reporting activities. In addition, the person selected for this position will be responsible for assisting with analyzing departmental systems, operating procedures and performance standards.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Automotive Equipment Engineering & Maintenance/Engineering
- Develops and prepares statistical/analytical reports as required.
- Provides management with operational data-driven reports that will establish and track efficiency of project(s) and provide basis for management decisions.
- Supports bus operation technology systems including AVM, Infotainment, ASAS, Passenger Wi-Fi, analytical systems, program deployment and authentication systems.
- Monitors project related systems for data validity and interface with various departments to establish controls within the available systems to improve operational performance.
- Coordinates capital project or operating related activities including travel providing periodic information and progress reports. Monitors all incoming and outgoing correspondence related to bus procurement projects. Updates project log book by monitoring subject correspondence to completion.
- Reviews project documents (Vehicle Specifications, contract documents and addendums) for grammatical, technical accuracy and assemble for distribution outside of the organization.
- Processes, organizes, and distributes mail/catalogues/manuals and electronic files (Adobe PDF) for various bus procurement projects.
- Provides statistical and analytical support directly to Senior Staff in Automotive Equipment Engineering & Maintenance Department as required.
- Coordinates collection of data and preparation of reports such as maintenance performance, fleet status and statistical records of performance data.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Automotive Equipment Engineering & Maintenance/Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Business or related discipline required. Some previous knowledge of vehicular applications and statistical analysis work experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience (two years of related experience equating to one year of post High School education), may be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
- Strong personal computer experience required. Must be proficient in MS 365 software applications, including Excel, Access, Outlook, Project and Word.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to work at SEPTA facilities located throughout the Philadelphia region.
- This position requires some domestic and international travel (85% office and 15% field work).
- Must have the ability to analyze processes and make recommendations for improvement using mathematical analysis and deductive/inductive reasoning. Examples of analysis and reports developed in school or at work must be presented for review and discussion at time of interview.
- Valid passport required.
- Some previous analytical experience preferred.
- Familiarity with multi-modal public transit systems - i.e. Bus / Light Rail / Heavy Rail / Commuter Rail / Paratransit operations preferred.
