This job is primarily responsible for leveraging the profit and loss associated with trading a particular commodity in order to maximize the grain divisions profit and loss. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, trading, setting and managing the region's bid structure, managing credit risk, providing strategy and information to other commercial teams, and coordinating trading across regional lines. This job will manage an assigned commodity throughout the division.In this job, you will:
- Oversee trading of all regional risk positions, including but not limited to the cash basis, barge freight, hedging, space utilization, locking down carries and futures, and ensure regularly communication of division and regional strategies, plans and initiatives.
- Provide leadership to the regional merchants regarding strategy, market information, logistics and political and macro-economic situations.
- Trade high volume, high value and highly complex grain products.
- Manage counterparty credit risk.
- Set and monitor position limited and credit policy violations; within corporate direction/limits.
- Design and implement trading education for assigned region; collaborate with other regions on best practices.
- Lead by example to reinforce development behaviors with direct reports to continuously enhance performance; coach and train trading staff to ensure proficiency in taking managed risk positions, including but not limited to cash commodity trades, commodity spreads, and transportations that are within company limits.
- Oversee staffing activities (hiring, training, employee performance management, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, etc.).
- Collaborate with peers to ensure cross functional support towards revenue goals.
- Proactively seeks and develops strategies to develop new revenue opportunities.

Here’s what you’ll need to be considered:
Education
Required - Bachelor's degree.
Experience
Required - 10 years' experience in both the commercial and operational sides of the grain industry. Experience managing people and asset management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of the delivery market and regulatory issues pertaining to trading.
- Knowledge of facility cost structures, mix and blend analysis, carry, interest, freight and facility operations.
- Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
- Strong decision making and conflict management skills.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.

Physical Demands & Requirements
Sedentary work.
