Summary
Chobani LLC has an opening for a Research and Development Manager in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Responsibilities
The position duties are as follows: Work with a team of scientists and developers to create new products and expand on existing categories, overseeing the project from concept to commercialization. Responsible for ensuring both food safety and quality of Chobani products. Daily job duties include:
- Take ownership of product platform and manage product development plans and strategies from concept development through initial production launch to ensure that projects are successfully completed;
- Oversee projects developing new and existing products from conceptualization to commercialization, including budget and project timelines;
- Communicate project requirements and recommendations as well as status to internal customers and external vendors;
- Lead, assist, and work directly with plant processing and production personnel to ensure trial runs and start-up operations are properly performed;
- Support the development, maintenance and ongoing improvement of an efficient and effective product development process, project management tools and techniques, and related documents;
- Proactively manage changes in scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans;
- Lead by example and provide a hands-on approach to develop team members and meet project objectives;
- Communicate effectively, cross-functionally and across diverse levels within and outside the organization; and
- Follow Chobani’s safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Role will supervise approximately 3 subordinate Food Scientists and Technologists (19-1012.00) with the internal titles of R&D Scientists and Senior R&D Scientist.
Requirements
The position requires a Master’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or Food Chemistry, a related field or foreign equivalent, plus 5 years of progressively responsible food scientist experience. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or Food Chemistry, or a related field or foreign equivalent, followed by 7 years of progressively responsible food scientist experience. Experience must include:
- 1 year of experience managing people in a relevant technical function (e.g., Chemistry, Food Science, Product Development, Consumer Testing / Insights, Engineering, or Microbiology);
- 1 year of experience with dairy food ingredients (e.g., Mixing, Stabilization, Emulsification, Fortification, Fermentation, or Chemistry);
- 1 year of experience with food flavor development (Flavors, Flavor Systems, & Masking Agents), and product stability (e.g. Shelf Life Studies & Sensory Analysis);
- 2 years of experience with process and product development, and commercialization of food processes (e.g., process mapping, equipment design, & equipment engineering);
- 2 years of experience leading product development projects, including timeline development and management, benchtop testing, trials, operational launches, and scale-ups; and
- 5 years of experience with basic research tools and statistical analysis (e.g., Literature Searches, MS Excel, & Data Visualization)
