As the manager of the Analytics and Countermeasures team for Payments fraud, you will be a part of the Enterprise Fraud - Adapt organization.

This team is responsible for analytics when an anomaly or fraud incident within the Digital payments domain (Zelle, Wire, ACH, etc.), Card domain, Deposit domain, and Lending domain reaches the Adapt team. Specifically, the team must identify and understand fraud patterns, propose rules and other supplementary countermeasures to address the attack vector, assess the effectiveness (capture rate) and impact (false positives) of said proposals, present findings to leadership/management, and assess the effectiveness of the implementation post-production compared to the expectations.

The manager of this team must provide guidance and instruction to junior team members, drive cross-functional training and engagement, and ensure controls are performed and maintained. Additionally, the manager must ensure collaboration with partners in the line of business, operations, incident management, all functions within the Enterprise Fraud Organization, and other stakeholders. This is a rapid pace environment due to the nature of the underlying work and the amount of money that can be lost as a window remains open and more bad actors are attracted to exploit it.

Skillsets include strong leadership and managerial skills, statistical and analytical capabilities with experience developing and training both senior and junior resources. Willingness to pick up new tools and technologies as the bank adopts them (e.g. Elastic, Neo4j, etc). Prior fraud knowledge is strongly preferred.

Job Description:
• Provides leadership and direction in the organization and techniques/methods for the team
• Driving career development of team members
• Developing partnerships with other EFO, security, technology, and product partners on comprehensive solutions
• Direction and oversight of controls and risk management
• Managing resource allocation and cross-training
• Providing guidance to the team in:
o Analyzing data to identify and understand fraud patterns
o Proposing rules and/or other countermeasures to address fraud attack
o Measuring the effectiveness of prospective fraud rules and documenting rules for governance approval

Job Description

  • Provides financial and regulatory reporting and analyses to maintain adequate controls over the financial and regulatory reporting processes. Responsible for running complex business performance, risk and operational analytics. May include the development of analytical methods/models to assess market, credit and/or operational risk of new and existing financial products.
  • Leverages business / product expertise to rigorously analyze large datasets, improve risk adjusted returns, deliver profitable growth, and communicate conclusions. Synthesizes analytical results and develops, recommends, and implements business strategies that improve lending decisions, assist in managing risk, increase revenues, reduce exposure to losses, meet business goals, and improve performance. Establishes baselines for strategies and tracks actual performance to expectations.
  • Applies predictive models, third party data, and other tools to develop and execute appropriate segmentation and targeting for acquisition and portfolio strategies to provide insight into portfolio risk. Manages engagements with internal and external information suppliers ensuring solution is fit for purpose while maintaining appropriate governance and oversight.
  • Understands and communicates regulatory and financial accounting impacts on the balance sheet to regulators and PNC control functions as appropriate. Interacts with regulators, internal audit, and management concerning credit portfolio analyses and credit risk appetite.
