THIS IS A STATE OF FLORIDA SELECTED EXEMPT SERVICE (SES) OPPORTUNITY.

 

Job Description:

This position is located in the Division of Blind Services, District 7 Tampa Office, working with the Independent Living/Children's Program (IL/CP).  As a supervisor, the incumbent in this position must communicate with, motivate, provide, and/or coordinate training, and direct the work of the of the Independent Living and Children's Program (IL/CP) Councelor's statewide. The incumbent in this position will support the activities performed by the Counselor's, which includes activities such as advocacy, counseling, and guidance throughout the rehabilitation process to the IL/CP participants and their families.The incumbent will demonstrate accountability and support towards the goals of agency leadership and communicate the same to other employees. Attendence is an essential function of this position.

 

Examples of Work:

  • Supervise the Independent Living and Children's Program (IL/CP) Counselor's statewide.
  • Utilize effective counseling and coaching strategies in accordance with agency personnel policies and procedures to ensure acceptable job performance of subordinates.
  • Identify, develop, coordinate, and provide appropriate training for staff. 
  • Visit each district annually to provide technical assistance/training as needed.
  • Conduct monthly case reviews to ensure timely provision of services, appropriate documentation, and client engagement in training services. 
  • Manage caseload(s) as necessary, to meet clients' needs and to cover staff vacancies.
  • Perform other-related duties and responsibilites as required.
  • Travel is required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional experience in health, social, economic or rehabilitative programs, health care or hospital administration or planning.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) eligible.  

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of social, economic, rehabilitative or health care services, administration or planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations, principles and practices of Blind Babies, Children's Program, Independent Living, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Ability to review and approve rehabilitation plans and expenditures for services, to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to develop program manuals, policies, procedures, standards and rules.
