What You Will Do
Electrical Subsystems engineers architect, design, and develop game-changing control systems that implement the subsystems and hardware necessary to achieve customer and business value as defined by our products’ engine performance, fuel consumption, operability, noise, emissions, and time on wing; and provide unmatched customer support, all in an environmentally responsible manner.
Electrical Subsystems engineers work across all CDS subdisciplines to help achieve program objectives of the CDS CIPT.
Electrical Subsystems engineers apply skills from across a wide range of PW Engineering disciplines such as Performance, Operability, Mechanical Disciplines, Aerothermal Management, to name a few, to develop, integrate and certify subsystems and hardware for Civil and Military customers. Electrical Subsystems engineering work the entire system life cycle from 1) control system technology development, 2) interpreting customer requirements, decomposing them to hardware and software, 3) technical and project oversight of hardware implementation, to 4) ensuring control system compliance across engines, flight and customer compliance testing, and finally, 5) leading system and hardware field issue triage and resolution.
The Senior Manager, Electrical Subsystems, is expected to:
- Supervise a team of Engineers working on Electrical, Electronic and Sensors systems and component development
- Support manpower needs required by the CDS CIPT leads
- Be the prime responsible to address requests from CDS CIPT lead and address them personally or delegate as appropriate
- Conduct job interviews and hire new talent as coordinated with the Associate Director, Electrification and Electrical Subsystems
- Provide technical expertise and provide guidance on complex technical challenges
- Assist direct reports on executing tasks
- Conduct performance assessment discussions and career development discussions with direct reports
- Escalate retention concerns
- Facilitate read-across of lessons learned and risks amongst different programs
- Identify Lessons Learned, document and share them as appropriate
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to less experienced engineers
- Lead by example
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 10 years of engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree and 7 with an advanced degree
- U.S. citizenship status is required, due to government contract requirements.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in control system development
- Able to think logically and analytically in an agile problem-solving environment to understand complex issues, develop effective solutions, and drive to timely resolution.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with P&W customers and other stakeholders.
- Background in one or more CDS products or systems in a design, test or customer support role preferred.
- Experience as a team leader
