About Minoan:
Minoan is a company at the frontier of a new way to shop — one we call “Native Retail.”
Have you ever stayed at a hotel and fallen in love with the soaps or shampoos? Maybe you had the best sleep of your life and wanted to know where you could get the mattress. Or maybe you were at your friend’s house and LOVED their speaker system, their coffee maker, or even their plants.
This is “Native Retail.” It’s about discovering products you love “in the wild” in environments where products are being used for what they are designed to do. In Native Retail, products aren’t boxed up in a display case like they are in stores, and they're not hiding behind clever merchandising on a phone screen like they are in e-commerce. There’s no salesperson over your shoulder or chat popup at the bottom of your screen — it’s just you and the product in a moment of real use. We believe these special moments are the future of retail.
At Minoan, we’re building a platform that’s connecting spaces, brands, and consumers to bring these moments to life. Tens of thousands of design-oriented hospitality partners use Minoan to manage their procurement across 150+ incredible brands (think West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Casper, Parachute, Boll & Branch, Article, Apotheke, etc.) and also use Minoan to turn their spaces into immersive, shoppable showrooms. It’s a big, bold idea and it will take an army of intelligent, tough, ambitious, optimistic, and curious people to get there.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Sr. UX/UI Designer who is ready for a new challenge and will enjoy the impact that comes with joining a fast-growing startup. This role will be primarily responsible for designing, iterating, and enhancing the user experience of Minoan's B2B retail platform, with contributions to our internal Order Management System and B2C Shoppable Showrooms. This role, reporting directly to the Director of User Experience & Design, will be the second full-time UX designer on the team and play a key role in shaping our future design direction and advancing the company toward its vision.
The role is based in NYC, where our company is headquartered and most of our employees reside. However, this position is remote, and working hours are expected to align with Eastern Time.
What you’ll do:
Partner closely with the Head of UX, the product team, and cross-functional business stakeholders to develop beautiful and functional design solutions and improve the overall user experience and engagement across Minoan’s full suite of products.
Develop a deep understanding of customer and internal stakeholder goals, use cases, and pain points and use that knowledge to effectively design innovative solutions that exceed the needs of all users.
Drive the end-to-end product design process: conducting user research, building wireframes, designing high-fidelity prototypes, and creating pixel-perfect design specs, ready for hand-off to engineering.
Build, refine, and manage Minoan’s design system, ensuring all user touchpoints are cohesive and uphold Minoan’s brand standards.
Contribute to fostering a culture of design and user-centricity within the company, staying up-to-date with the latest design and industry trends.
As an early member of a small tight-knit team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to meaningfully contribute to our company culture.
What we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience designing best-in-class digital interfaces
A creative and strategic designer who is curious, user-focused, and able to balance business goals with user needs.
A strong portfolio showcasing high-end, elegant design solutions.
Solid understanding of design principles and experience working with (and ideally building) design systems in Figma.
Ability to multitask across multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
Results mindset: highly organized, proactive, and reliable, with a bias to action and attention to detail.
Problem-solving skills: adept at managing ambiguity, breaking down complex problems, and prioritizing critical elements for maximum impact.
Effective communication skills
