Primary Summary:
The YMCA focuses on strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Family Life Staff supports a variety of family-oriented programs and events, such as Kids Night Out and Middle School Madness. This position involves monitoring and engaging with children and families to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment. The role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to various tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Functions:
- Event Support: Assist with planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of family life events and activities.
- Child Supervision: Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of children during programs and events, including activities in the kids' gym.
- Program Facilitation: Lead and facilitate various recreational, educational, and enrichment activities for youth and families.
- Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with supervisors, parents, and participants. Provide information about YMCA programs and schedules as needed.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Record Keeping: Accurately maintain records related to program activities and participant information.
- Team Collaboration: Attend staff meetings and participate in required training sessions. Collaborate with team members to enhance program quality and participant experience.
- Adaptability: Remain flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the program and participants.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Family Life Director.
Employees and volunteers who directly supervise children and teens will:
• Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children and teens
• Attend required abuse risk management training annually
• Adhere to procedures for managing high-risk activities and supervising children and teens.
• Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
• Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Experience: Prior experience in education, recreation, physical education, teaching, or childcare is preferred.
Certifications:

First Aid/CPR/AED certification (valid for 2 years unless otherwise noted) via YMCA, American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI).

Successful completion of background and Child Abuse and Neglect screening.

Completion of requisite risk management/safety online training modules prior to the start date and annually thereafter.

Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities in various indoor and outdoor settings.

Must be physically active, including but not limited to walking, sitting, squatting, standing, kneeling, climbing, running, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
