About the role

Nerdy is looking for a People Operations Administrator to join our team. The People Operations Administrator is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functionality of the team and supporting our office on-site in St. Louis (Clayton Area).  The ideal candidate will be comfortable with the volume and variety of work required of a high-growth stage company. These areas of responsibility will include, but may not be limited to employee onboarding, system offboarding, maintaining employee records, guiding employees through various human resource processes, answering any questions they may have about policies or procedures, and a variety of administrative tasks.

The individual in this role will focus on HR processes that sustain internal and external communication, create employee brand, answer questions and inquiries from employees and external sources and overall help to create a culture that is aligned with our mission to support the overall organization and their mission to help the world learn!

Qualifications:

Functional core skills in the following:

  • Excellent communication skills -primarily via email; however the ability to provide clear information in various contexts is always vital.
  • Ability to identify and share themes to drive the People Team to improve the overall employee experience
  • Decision-making skills: able to demonstrate critical thinking and sound judgment in providing answers or guidance to employees, or escalating issues to other team members
  • Detail-oriented: strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Interpersonal skills: Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization and create a comfortable space when interacting with employees and professionals
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative to implement acquired knowledge and skills independently
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with visibility to payroll, benefits, and employee information
  • Ability to utilize multiple forms of technology primarily the Google suite of products, Slack, HRIS, applicant tracking systems, etc. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or 1-2 years of professional experience
  • Ability to commute and work in-office in Clayton, Missouri, 3-4 days per week.
  • Understand and appreciate that Nerdy is an apolitical company and that we can have the largest impact if we are united in our focus on helping people learn and not divided or distracted by advancing unrelated causes

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with administrative tasks and projects relative to core initiatives within HR/People Function. This includes, but may not be limited to
    • Being the first point of contact for internal and external inquiries to the People Team via our in-house communication account - escalating specific cases as needed
    • Managing logistics for employee onboarding, position changes, and system offboarding
    • Data Entry related to a variety of system and organizational needs 
    • Managing Mail Correspondence
    • General onsite clerical support
    • Work cross-functionally with various departments (ie Payroll, Recruiting, Training, & IT)
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Identify and analyze employee situations, handling tier 1 issues and escalating issues of a more complex nature, helping to maintain a positive and productive work environment
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve the efficiency of the department and services performed continually.
