The Facilities Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing building systems, including boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and commercial pool facilities. This role ensures system performance, safety, and code compliance through regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency response. Must be available for on-call duties, nights, weekends, and emergencies as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain boilers, HVAC systems, and associated controls.
- Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems, including water heaters, pumps, piping, and drainage systems.
- Safely manage and troubleshoot high-voltage electrical systems, lighting, and emergency power equipment.
- Maintain and operate commercial pools and spas, including chemical treatment, filtration systems, heaters, and water quality monitoring to meet health and safety standards.
- Monitor and respond to facility systems alarms and emergencies.
- Perform preventive maintenance schedules and document all activities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
- Support special events, facility improvements, and equipment installations.
- Respond promptly to work orders and maintenance requests.
- Collaborate with third-party contractors when needed and oversee contracted work for quality and safety compliance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building maintenance or as a stationary engineer in a commercial setting.
- Proven experience with:
- Boiler operation and maintenance
- High-voltage electrical systems
- Plumbing systems, including backflow prevention and pressure regulation
- Commercial pool operations, including chemical handling and mechanical systems
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for duration of work shift.
- Bend, reach overhead, and lift up to 50lbs.
- Climbing, crawling, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, and reaching.
