Monday-Friday, 1st shift- (flexible start time from 6a to 9a)

First shift hours are: 6a-2:30 p, 7a-3:30p, 8a-4:30p, 9a-5:30p)

Purpose of Role

Sr. Maintenance Controls Technicians provide leadership in continuous improvement, PM capability, breakdown elimination, and technical support for delivering the team’s operational targets such as safety, quality and efficiency results.  This role will have a focus on continuous improvement and issues related to controls, instrumentation, or electrical systems; but may be asked to support mechanical work orders (WO's) and issues as needed.  This role must proactively identify and action risks to safety, food safety, quality and production losses.   Must also lead and coach root cause problem solving with the Maintenance Technicians, effectively communicate priorities, and escalate issues within their area and across shifts.   

Sr. Maintenance Controls Technicians are also responsible for the repair and/replacement of failed components, the ability to troubleshoot unknown equipment issues, and recommend adjustments to center lines.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead and support the culture development of Mars 5 Principles and Engagement
  • Coach Mars safety standards, tools and techniques
  • Identify, evaluate and eliminate safety risks using behavior-based safety program and near miss reporting
  • Support electrical preventative maintenance on various manufacturing equipment, PLCs, control networks, instrumentation calibration, drives/servos, admin networks, and electrical system
  • Document preventative maintenance and work orders using SAP
  • Troubleshoot and repair routine and advanced electrical issues, and mechanical issues as needed to support and develop Maintenance Techs
  • Conduct root cause analysis 
  • Participate and sometimes lead Focused Improvement Teams to eliminate losses
  • Develop/train Maintenance Technicians to grow functional/technical skills, learn troubleshooting and repair skills to operate equipment more efficiently, understand MSE activities
  • Train Maintenance Techs in areas of controls to grow their capability
  • Drive delivery at or above target of following metrics:  TRS, production reliability, stops reduction, mean time between failure, defects found and fixed, work order/PM completion rate
  • Uses problem solving tools to achieve zero losses, ensure follow up to outages and root cause identification
  • Provide technical support to eliminate line top losses and team’s equipment ownership improvements
  • Flow to work as needed to meet the business need
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of technical competency.
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities and complexity

  • Understand and adhere to LOTO, confined space, and all other plant safety/GMP requirements
  • Strong operational knowledge of manufacturing processes & equipment
  • Mastery of technical skills and equipment within main area of responsibility
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Ability to teach and develop Maintenance Techs and Operators
  • Advanced computer skills to include Word, Excel, Outlook Email, and SAP
  • Advanced electrical, controls, instrumentation and mechanical skills
  • Advanced understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics/diagrams
  • Ability to read electrical drawings in troubleshooting
  • Strong troubleshooting and problems solving skills
  • Proven ability to analyze data, determine root cause, and eliminate losses using problem solving tools
  • Demonstrated ability to develop self and continue to learn/grow
