An exceptional opportunity awaits to join the Senior Management Team of one of Amey's most prestigious and accomplished contracts within the heart of the UK Government. This pivotal role offers the chance to spearhead operations across multiple well-established on-site teams, delivering a comprehensive suite of Facility Management (FM) services.
As Principal Operations Manager, you will serve as a crucial interface between operational teams, commercial stakeholders, finance, HR, and senior leadership. Additionally, you will be the responsibility for ensuring quality assurance and compliance standards are met and exceeded throughout the contract.

You will be responsible for:
As the Principal Operations Manager, you will oversee multiple well-established on-site teams responsible for delivering a diverse range of facilities management services. These encompass asset management and furniture maintenance, distribution services, records management, portering, loading bay operations, offsite scanning, office management, and ceremonial services, including the management of roof flags.
Daily tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Ensure services meet or exceed specified service levels through effective oversight and management.
- Effectively manage sub-contractors to ensure they deliver services in accordance with agreed service levels and budgetary constraints.
- Develop and implement self-auditing methodologies across all services to uphold and improve quality standards.
- Drive future development and enhancement initiatives for all operational services.
- Manage departmental Profit and Loss (P&L) by overseeing budgeting and expenditures in alignment with contractual and Amey budgets.
- Accountable for on-site wellbeing initiatives and implement a robust communications plan.
- Serve as a competent person for Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders and represent Amey on the Senior Management Team (SMT) in various capacities as required.
- Demonstrate a strong grasp of HR procedures, adept at navigating and implementing various protocols within the human resources domain.
- Proficiently formulate detailed process and risk assessments, showcasing a meticulous approach to analysing and enhancing organisational workflows while identifying potential vulnerabilities.
- Actively promote collaborative relationships by adhering to ISO 44001 standards, fostering a culture of cooperation and teamwork within the workplace.
- Ensure organisational compliance by aligning work processes with ISO 9001 standards, contributing to the seamless passing of BSI audits and maintaining a commitment to quality management.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly service reports for the client.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Demonstrates an ability to lead, communicate, and motivate large teams effectively.
- Experience in profit and loss account management, with a strong understanding of financial principles and budgetary control.
- Good understanding of HR procedures, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite for various tasks, including data analysis and report generation.
- Possession of a health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Experience in HSEQ management, including conducting investigations, implementing remedial actions, and leading internal and external audits.
- Certified Internal QMS Auditor, with experience in conducting audits and ensuring compliance with quality management standards.
- Familiarity with ISO 44001 standards and experience in promoting collaborative relationships, fostering a culture of cooperation and teamwork within the workplace.
- Understanding of general building statutory compliance.
- Security - DV STRAP – This will require 10 years residency and holds a UK passport
