We're working with a large-scale organisation looking for an experienced Java Backend Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Antwerp.<br> You'll work on large-scale platforms that power products across the media and AI landscape, helping to build backend systems that process high volumes of data and deliver strong performance.<br> If you're passionate about building scalable software, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and want to contribute to projects that have real-world impact, we'd love to hear from you.<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul> <li>Develop backend applications using Java and Spring Boot. </li> <li>Build APIs and MicroServices that support data-intensive platforms. </li> <li>Collaborate with product managers and frontend developers to deliver new features. </li> <li>Optimise application performance and scalability. </li> <li>Write clean and well-tested code following engineering best practices. </li> <li>Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning. </li> <li>Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployments. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Commercial experience developing backend applications with Java. </li> <li>Strong knowledge of the Spring Framework, particularly Spring Boot. </li> <li>Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs. </li> <li>Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL. </li> <li>Understanding of software design principles, testing, and clean architecture. </li> <li>Experience with GIT and modern development workflows. </li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset. </li> <li>Comfortable communicating in English (Dutch a major plus). </li> </ul>
