Job Duties
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and direction to the Office of Federal Programs which includes primary responsibility for the state's administration and implementation of federal programs under the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965, as amended. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supporting the creation of division academic strategic plans with an aligned budget; ensuring teaching and learning best practices along with the state's academic strategy are embedded with division planning and budgeting; providing technical expertise and customer service to school divisions on the completion of fiscal year applications for federal funds; facilitating Federal Programs policy development and implementation; and providing direction for staff in the Office of Federal Programs.
Pursuant to Sections 2.2-3114 and 2.2-3115 of the Code of Virginia, this position has been designated to file an annual Statement of Economic Interests form.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge as an educator and school or division leader.
- Considerable knowledge of resource allocations, budgets, and project management.
- Considerable knowledge of local, state and federal government policies and procedures.
- Considerable knowledge of instructional best practices, service delivery models and research methods.
- Considerable knowledge of federally-funded education programs.
- Demonstrated skills in effective written and oral communication.
- Demonstrated skills and abilities to define and apply problem solving techniques to complex education issues.
- Demonstrated skills and abilities to set schedules and timelines for subordinate staff of professionals.
- Demonstrated skills and abilities to use personal computer and productivity software applications, including word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects and their associated budgets at the same time.
Additional Considerations
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an advanced degree in Education Administration or relevant discipline.
