Job Description Summary
Maximus is seeking a skilled and highly motivated Windows Administrator to join our Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) team and play a crucial role in ensuring our Windows-based systems' smooth operation and stability. You will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting our Windows environment and ensuring optimal performance and security.Responsibilities:• System Management:oInstall, configure, and deploy Windows server and desktop operating systems (Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 10/11) in a highly secure and compliant environment.o Manage Active Directory for user accounts, groups, permissions, and authentication across HHS agencies.o Implement and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for consistent system configuration and security controls.o Monitor system performance, identify potential issues proactively, and take corrective action.o Perform routine system maintenance tasks, including backups, updates, and patching.o Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software related issues within the Windows environment to include SQL Server Database• Security and Compliance:o Implement and enforce HHS-specific security policies and procedures, adhering to strict HIPAA and FISMA regulations.o Configure and manage antivirus, anti-malware, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.o Maintain network security and access control for Windows systems and servers.o Ensure compliance with all relevant data security regulations and HHS IT standards.• Application Management:o Install, configure, and deploy applications on Windows servers and desktops, supporting critical HHS operations.o Manage user access and permissions for applications, adhering to strict data privacy and access control guidelines.o Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues related to compatibility and functionality.• Technical Support:o Provide technical support to HHS users regarding Windows-related issues and applications.o Document processes and procedures for system administration, ensuring clarity and knowledge transfer.o Collaborate with other IT team members and agency stakeholders to resolve complex technical problems.Required Skills:• Applicants must be able to pass a government required background investigation. Additionally, applicants must be able to work for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.• University Degree (BA/BS) preferred or equivalent experience and minimum of 6 years of related work experience.Desired Skills:• Demonstrated commitment to public service and the mission of the Department of Health and Human Services.• Solid understanding of Windows security best practices and compliance with HIPAA and FISMA regulations.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.• The following certifications are highly desired: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), ITIL Foundations, (ISC)² Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)• CompTIA Security+ certification and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA): Windows Server 2022 certification• 6+ years of experience within Microsoft Windows server and desktop operating systems (Windows Server 2019/2022, Windows 10/11).• 6+ years of experience utilizing active directory administration and troubleshooting, including group/user creation, permissions, and authentication protocols.• 6+ years of experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Batch) for automating tasks and managing configurations.#techjobs #clearance
