Our Mechanisms Business Unit of our Space Division in Chatsworth, California is seeking a highly motivated Program Manager to drive key programs from inception to delivery.  This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Moog.

As a Program Manager, you will:

  • Have responsibility to lead several (2-6) programs of significance to the division, from both existing product lines and new/modified products along with internal research and development programs.
  • Drive technical programs throughout the lifecycle beginning with sales handoff through end item delivery.
  • Oversee and manage tasks from engineering design, to qualification, and throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Use your technical background to understand and confirm that the requirements are interpreted and met throughout the program. 
  • Ensure that the program plan, schedule and costs meet both Moog and customer expectations. 
  •  will review and manage program costs and technical risks, presenting status and schedule of programs at monthly Program Management Reviews Risk and opportunities will be assessed and communicated throughout the program.

Here is what to expect:

As a general rule, the total value these programs will typically be valued at between $3-20M, however, because of technical complexity or customer approach, the dollar value may not fully represent the difficulty of the work involved. The Program Manager does not have direct reports but will coordinate the activities of a program staff of up to 5-10 people, through an integrated product team structure through weekly internal meetings.

Here's what you’ll need to bring with you:

  • Minimum of an BS Degree in Engineering or related technical area.
  • Minimum of five years program related experience within the space/aerospace/defense industry with demonstrated experience in the management of engineering development programs (space products preferred) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and communicating program budgets, plans and schedules to include critical program milestones for multiple programs in a portfolio.
  • Proactive in identifying issues and problems, which impact program performance, and in taking appropriate actions to resolve these issues and recover cost and schedule, in a timely manner.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the preparation and conduct of presentation materials for internal and customer meetings and reviews.
  • Leadership and management of cross-functional teams across disciplines ranging from contracts, procurement, engineering, test, operations, and quality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in understanding contractual requirements and scope adherence.
  • Some travel may be required from time to time.
  • Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with complex development programs driving and leading engineering teams to meet contractual requirements and milestones.
  • Experience working with large space vehicle and prime component providers.
  • PMP certification and working knowledge of Earned Value Management a plus
  • Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information
