Summary of Job Duties:

The Graduate Assistant position offers an excellent opportunity to learn about the operations of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (VCSA). Responsibilities include daily interactions with students and staff, observing various processes, gathering information, and supporting administrative tasks. Ultimately, this exposure provides valuable insights into the university community and lays a solid foundation for a career in student affairs or a related field. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.


Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education;

  • Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or good standing with the Graduate School for continuing graduate students;

  • Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • A strong interest in student affairs;

  • Experience working in a professional office or business environment;

  • Experience working with diverse student populations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Administrative Operations Manager;

  • Greet and handle concerns from students, staff, and visitors daily;

  • Interact with Student Affairs units;

  • Prepare materials as directed by VCSA staff;

  • Assist with filing and record-keeping tasks; 

  • Research and collect relevant information for special projects;

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a division handbook;

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of events and meetings;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
