Summary
To assist in contributing to a safe work environment through encouraging a safe workplace culture and raising awareness to eliminate incidents and injuries.
Essential Functions

The ability to implement program elements and safe operating procedures
The knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems that meet or exceed compliance
Evaluate environmental training in liaison with the division/regional HSE manager
Facilitates regulatory reporting of environmental incidents as required
The ability to understand and employ construction specifications, methods, and procedures
Develops innovative safe construction methods based on extensive experience
The ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards
The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
Communicates results of incident investigation to project and division management teams
The knowledge of hygiene, ergonomics, and HAZCOM, and the ability to act as required for the preservation of health and the prevention of disease
The ability to plan and organize construction/safety activities
The use and application of technology as well as the evaluation and integration of new technologies as they apply to the role
The skill to develop and deliver effective safety training programs
Other
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization (Verbal & Written)
Ability to organize and prioritize work with little oversight
Must be “Hands On”, walk projects daily, and identify issues as well as successes

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The incumbent occasionally walks and stands for long periods. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. This position may require long hours.
Travel
The role requires minimal travel.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum Undergraduate degree in Health, Safety, and Environmental Science.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in HSE required
Preferred BCSP Certifications or qualified to obtain
Preferred Education and Experience
Construction industry experience preferred
Ability to read drawings and specifications preferred
Takes full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license before employment.
