Duke School of Medicine’s interdisciplinary Duke Molecular Physiology Institute (DMPI), is looking for a Research Scholar to join Dr. Virgina Kraus’ lab. In this crucial role, you'll perform molecular biology techniques, attend and present at meetings, contribute to the publication of abstracts and manuscripts, and confer with PI and co-I to develop research plans. The project relates to a novel area of science involving extracellular vesicles. Dr. Kraus’ lab includes researchers with diverse competencies and is a rich environment for learning and growth.

Please note this is a term-limited position, ending 12/31/2025; and is 100% grant-funded.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Work requires a PhD degree in a scientific related field, preferably in biology with five years' postdoctoral training. The position requires excellent organizational, time management, writing, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with relevant lab processes.

Other Requirements:

  • This position is hybrid eligible, though most work will be done on-site. If partially remote, the employee must reside in a Duke University-approved state.

Position Description:

• Perform molecular biology techniques including but not limited to: RNA analyses, joint tissue extraction for RNA, protein and cells, cell culture, tissue sectioning.

• Attend and present periodically at weekly lab meetings.

• Compile / analyze data and write reports on results. Contribute to the publication of abstracts and manuscripts.

• Confer with the principal investigator and co-I, Dr. Xin Zhang, to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments and timelines.

• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
