The Anesthesia Technician Senior assists in the OR suites and non-OR anesthetizing sites in administering patient care as directed by the Anesthesiologist. This role sets up, moves, prepares, and maintains all anesthesia machines, equipment, and supplies for the Anesthesiologist.
The Anesthesia Technician Senior assists the Anesthesiologists with invasive and non-invasive monitoring. This job participates in the orientation, training, and education of new personnel and maintains a safe and aseptic environment for all patients. This job performs all related duties as assigned and directed while adhering to the standards of nursing care and the policy and procedures of the Department of Anesthesiology.
The Anesthesia Technician Senior reports to the certified Anesthesia Technician Supervisor, the Clinical Coordinator of Anesthesia Support Services, and the Chief CRNA.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Two years anesthesia support experience or Certified Anesthesia Technician or Technologist (CAT), Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current CAT; EMT-P; LPN; EMT-B; CMA or CCMA; or CNA required within 24 months of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Experience REQUIRED:
Minimum of two (2) years acute care experience with required credentials/licensure (CAT; EMT-P; LPN; EMT-B; CMA or CCMA or CNA)
Experience PREFERRED:
Three of more years of experience as an Anesthesia
Technician Education/training REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent; and Successful completion and certification/licensure in one of the following: Anesthesia Technician/Technologist program; EMT Paramedic or Basic program; Practical Nursing program; Medical Assistant program; State recognized CNA program required within 24 months of hire
Education/training PREFERRED:
Associate's Degree or coursework in biological sciences
Independent action(s) required:
Follows the anesthesia providers’ orders, standards and guidelines.
This position requires a highly motivated, self-directed, and conscientious individual capable of functioning in a stressful and fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
This position requires excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medication and related supplies.
