International Shipping Program Manager - U-Box

The International Shipping Program Manager is tasked with increasing U-Box shipment volume to destinations outside the U.S. and Canada. To be successful, this role will require an individual who is obsessed with customer experience and will strive to make moving easier for people who are shipping their belongings to foreign countries. This is a relatively new program with tremendous growth potential.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure we have the most helpful and friendly customer interactions in the industry.

• Manage and develop a team of specialists who focus on international, US/CAD cross-border, and Alaska/Hawaii shipments.

• Continuously improve our international moving processes and move management software.

• Maintain relationships with and expand our network of international service partners with an emphasis on customer experience and rate reduction.

• Based on our costs, develop rate structures for each destination.

• Research, write up, and prioritize IT/development requests that move the program forward.

• Refine and document our international shipping policies and procedures.

• Develop educational content for each destination that simplifies complicated topics such as customs.

• Collaborate with the Digital Marketing team to increase conversion rate and ROI on our international ad campaigns.

• Work with the Military and Corporate Moves teams to develop international shipping options that meet the needs of their clients.

• Team up with various internal departments such as Accounting, Legal, and Repwest to integrate international shipping into U-Haul systems.

• Maintain FMC compliance for our Ocean Transportation Intermediary license.

Requirements:

• Knowledge of U-Box operations and shipping processes a major plus.

• Experience with logistics, especially international freight, preferred but not required.

• Management experience preferred, both managing people and/or a business.

• Experience working tactfully with internal & external business partners to drive results.

• A track record of continuous learning required.

• A self-starter with a “can do” attitude that reliably overcomes roadblocks required.

• Expert level prioritization skills a must.

• Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills.
