Job Description
As a Payment Operations Area Lead you will be setting the strategic direction of your teams to achieve the organisation’s objectives and driving operational excellence. You will provide support, guarantee collaboration and embrace opportunities to consistently improve the state of Payment Operations.
Your Mission:
Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their hard-earned money with the world’s first platform to offer true multi-currency banking. In this role, you'll add to that mission by:
- Developing strong Payments Operations Senior Team Leads and support them in building their teams
- Drive operational excellence within your domain, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are consistently met
- Ensure the sustainability of your domain by focusing on longer term scalability and efficiency and risk
- Take ownership of plans for the domain and accountability in their delivery
- Work with product, engineering and other stakeholders to manage operational impact as well as identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience, increase automation or improve operational efficiencies
- Look well beyond your team and across the whole organization - take initiative to bring people together to solve problems across Wise
- Guarantee support for existing and future products while maintaining and developing organization structure and functions, as well as vision and higher level goals
- Guarantee aligned people development and compensation processes in the Payment Operations organization
- Develop strong Payments Operations Senior Team Leads and Team leads and support them in building their teams
- Support risk aware culture within Payments Operations and help organization to scale risk management
- Collaborate with other teams to align on overall mission
- Maintain positive work environment and scale company culture

Qualifications
- Very good verbal & written English, any other languages are a plus
- Ability to multi-task and take responsibility in challenging situations
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders internally in the company and externally
- Good understanding of and ability to analyze and move team’s metrics, as well as agility to support different topics, projects and initiatives
- Proven track record of taking individual ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player and people lead
- Excellent people and intrapersonal communication skills
- You're comfortable with feedback and being part of a team where ideas are shared and openness is valued
- You have experience in leading, coaching and mentoring driven high performing teams
- You’re comfortable working within teams that face big challenges and taking responsibility in difficult situations
- You are able to identify, structure and scope wider problems; detect areas within the organization that need development and follow through with the improvements
