Finance Director - Animal Nutrition

We are seeking a Finance Director to provide financial leadership to our Animal Nutrition business unit. The Animal Nutrition portfolio is comprised of multiple business segments spanning a geographically diverse network of approximately 59 feed mills, which allows the business to sell product through multiple channels both domestically and internationally.

This role is located at our Arden Hills, MN Corporate headquarters (hybrid work arrangement each week)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the trusted day-to-day strategic financial advisor for the Animal Nutrition Leadership Team, which consists of the Senior Vice President of Animal Nutrition, their direct team of six functional Vice Presidents, and leadership from other supporting functions (e.g., HR, IT, Legal, Supply Chain, Strategy, etc.)

  • Nurture a positive, inclusive culture with high team engagement through focused management, coaching, direction, and accountability of an experienced team of five direct finance professionals and reports (total org approximately 30 employees)

  • Oversee the portfolio-wide short and long-range planning and forecasting processes, and strategic recommendations arising from these plans, including deliverables, communication formats, and deadlines in coordination with key internal partners (i.e., functional business teams, Corporate Strategy and Corporate & Supply Chain Finance teams). 

  • Provide leadership and oversight while proactively influencing senior management on inherent investment needs, business implications, and strategic alternatives for business unit activities including, but not limited to, portfolio positioning and resource allocation, strategic investment evaluation, new product development pipeline, SG&A tracking, capital planning, risk management, M&A, and KPI reporting.

  • Ensure all transactions and decisions contribute to the financial health and stability of the organization.

  • Provide leadership throughout the Animal Nutrition ERP migration to SAP over multiple years including driving adoption of best practices leveraging the technology to improve management reporting, planning, and forecasting processes.

  • Manage all critical business unit financial communications with key stakeholders, both internal (e.g., Executive Leadership Team, Corporate Finance, Town Halls, functional department meetings, etc.) and external (e.g., customer advisory groups).

  • Act as a steward of the enterprise finance talent pipeline through actions and initiatives focused on team member development and thoughtful assignment exposure:

    • Build Capabilities – agility, insight driven decisions, business acumen, and challenge mindset

    • Maintain talent rotations, support for our new graduate talent acceleration program and summer internship experience

    • Succession plan readiness for key roles

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related required.  MBA/CPA desired.

  • A minimum of 12-15 of progressive leadership experience (5-7 years of those in FP&A) required

  • Previous senior finance leadership experience in support of an Animal Nutrition/Ag business, and their associated financial structures, is strongly desired

  • Demonstrated ability in leading and developing of teams.

Competencies/Skills:

  • Effective interpersonal communication and influencing skills with senior leadership across the LOL enterprise to include the CFO and Executive Leadership Team.

  • Proven ability to build strong trusted advisor relationships with Executives.

  • An advanced understanding of all finance/accounting disciplines, financial modeling, business partnership, constructive challenge, comfort with ambiguity, agility. 

  • Understands and communicates the relevance of both macro- and micro-economic data

  • Experience contributing finance leadership to business transformation activities including new ERP deployment.

Salary Range:  $159,520-$299,100
