WHAT YOU’LL DO:
MGT is seeking a Business Development Manager with a strong background in higher education and SaaS sales to partner with an assigned portfolio to identify opportunities and successfully nurture these opportunities into ready opportunities for cross-team evaluation. The Business Development Manager will report directly to the VP of Market Development and Execution. A strong candidate will have a strong background in business development, government contracting, public sector sales, relationship building, and entrepreneurial skills. This role will benefit from past project management experience given the end-to-end management of the business development process from lead prospecting through contract closure that will be overseen.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for
Section 1: Business Development
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of technology modernization and optimization, including technology evaluation and selection services, technology change management, procurement and negotiation, as well as research and analysis.
- Effectively articulate MGT’s Technology Research and Advisory Solutions value proposition to potential clients, highlighting our expertise and tailored approach in addressing their unique needs.
- Own Sales and revenue figures in partnership with the Technology Research and Advisory Solutions group.
- Proactively leverage market research provided by supporting teams to drive demand generation by capitalizing on identified leads through customer insights, budget evaluations, incumbent analysis, pricing strategies, and procurement forecasting.
- Maximize sales (both value and volume) and consistently increase win rates.
- Sales Execution – ensure required pipeline coverage, pipeline quality and health of the pipeline; build and manage pipeline execution with partners.
- Hunt for new accounts, leveraging both existing relationships and proactive outreach efforts, with a preference for candidates with a traditional inside sales background
- Leverage the firm's infrastructure and portfolio of successful client engagements to develop new clientele.
- Identify new cooperatives, state-term MSAs, and contract vehicles to support growth and a streamlined procurement process.
- Develop innovative strategies for bundling services to foster a unified, one-firm approach.
Section 2: Strategic Leadership
- Work with offshore resources on market intelligence and customer insights.
- Lead inside sales support to facilitate new client discovery meetings.
- Coordinate the development of strategic proposals by working closely with the proposals team to ensure optimum value and impact.
- Support the development of presentations and oral demonstrations for MGT opportunities, aligning them with client needs and preferences.
- Work within the Market Group to ensure proposals are delivered on time and meet the requirements outlined by the client.

- Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, Marketing, or other related fields.
