Job Summary

Position is responsible for planning, reviewing, and controlling all activities and functions of clinical transformation by using Information Technology to continually assess and improve the way patient care is delivered and providing managerial, technical and motivational leadership. The Senior Clinical Informaticist will drive clinical transformation through careful analysis of current processes and workflows and change management strategies that align with Memorial Hermann’s strategic plan, values and objectives of Memorial Hermann Healthcare System (Memorial Hermann). The Senior CI will achieve transformation by accounting for patient's view of continuity of care, departmental view of integration, and all clinical disciplines’ view of best practice. He or she will leverage available resources, metrics, benchmarks, system standards, policies and procedures across the system to achieve transformation.

The Senior CI demonstrates knowledge and skills required in a large, complex corporate Information System to ensure the efficient, effective and consistent delivery of high quality services. The Senior Clinical Informaticist will work closely with system, service line, and facility leadership and resources to assist in the design of the clinical information systems (CIS) system and build consensus around the process, workflow, and content for the CIS. The Senior Clinical Informaticist is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to the values of the corporation through active participation in the Partners in Caring, Customer Service, Six Sigma, and Robust Process Improvement programs. Typically reports to Manager, Clinical Informatics.

As a Senior Clinical Informaticist, you will play a key role in advancing clinical documentation and workflow optimization by partnering with nursing, providers, operational leaders, and Information Systems to enhance the use of Epic across the organization. In this role, you will lead clinical informatics and quality improvement initiatives, analyze workflows, identify opportunities for process optimization, and ensure system enhancements align with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and quality standards. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement sustainable solutions that improve clinician efficiency, support high-quality patient care, and drive adoption of best practices. This position is ideal for an experienced clinical professional, preferably a Registered Nurse, with strong Epic knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for bridging the gap between clinical operations and technology.

Desired Skills

  • RN with direct patient care experience preferred.
  • Epic certification or strong Epic optimization experience (ClinDoc preferred).
  • Experience in clinical informatics, workflow optimization, and project management.
  • Knowledge of clinical documentation, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze workflows, solve complex problems, and drive process improvements.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Clinical degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, or equivalent or Bachelors or higher in informatics are required

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Epic Certification or Accreditation in Clinical Informatics, Clinical Builder, or Clinical Applications modules is preferred. 

  • Preferred license in a clinical discipline; Certification in clinical/health informatics preferred

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Requires at least three (3) years of experience with applied clinical informatics, including change management, project management, quality improvement methods and tools, data analysis methods and tools, decision support methods and tools
