About the role:
You will be the leader of the Kong SaaS platform and application team. This team is responsible for the platform APIs and web applications that deliver API management, end-to-end connectivity, and advanced visibility into our customer’s services and APIs.Your team will be responsible for building the API governance, identity management, and service inventory for the Kong SaaS platform. What you'll be doing:

• Deliver product features and functionalities including API governance, identity management, runtime management and service configuration.
• Scale Kong SaaS applications to hundreds of thousands of customers.
• Hire, mentor and maintain healthy Engineering teams who value collaboration and innovation 
• Manage through uncertainty and work closely with product management to deliver novel software solutions to customer problems.
• Organize and manage your teams to fit constructively into the department as a whole and help the company succeed.
• Give constructive feedback to Engineers, conduct 1:1’s, perform performance reviews and strive for continuous improvement.
• Suggest guidelines, principles and processes to improve the Engineering org.
• Assure high quality work and SLA adherence.
• And any additional tasks required by manager.

What you'll bring:

• 4+ years of Eng management experience.
• 8+ years of SaaS, web application, and API experience, including hands-on contributions as a software engineer
• Experience managing remote teams, doing reviews, hiring, comp.
• Demonstrated leadership of Engineering teams.
• Proven customer relationship skill sets.
• Experience developing with Golang or Node.js.

Kong has different base pay ranges for different work locations globally, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to specific candidate location, role, skill set and level of experience. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards including sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role. Benefits may vary depending on location. US based employees are typically offered access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short and long term disability benefits, basic life and AD&D insurance, among others. The typical base pay range for this role in the USD is $225,000 - 275,000 USD.
