CO Ophthalmic Clinical Supervisor

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Clinical Supervisor who will supervise and manage clinical staff and the day-to-day clinical operations. Coordinates the efficient flow of patients, staff and providers in a busy clinic environment. Recommends, develops and implements initiatives to enhance clinical operations. Acts proactively to troubleshoot problems, resolves and diffuses patient, physician and clinical staff issues. Fosters a team environment and is a mentor for clinical staff. Acts independently with professionalism and efficiency.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Recruits, hires and onboards clinical staff, including ophthalmic technicians and scribes.
- Ensures Technicians follow all requirements.
- Emphasizes the importance of obtaining ID info from patients at every single visit.
- Trains and coaches clinical staff including ophthalmic technicians and scribes.
- Manages time and attendance of clinical staff according to established guidelines.
- Provides daily oversight and management of clinical staff.
- Recommends clinic flow changes/improvements as needed.
- Assists Clinic Manager with onboarding of new providers.
- Reviews and updates provider’s clinical protocols as needed.
- Orders and manages clinic supplies, instruments and clinic drugs.
- Assists with reviewing and responding to Epic In-Basket messages from patients.
- Troubleshoots clinic equipment issues/problems, communicating with Wilmer IT and/or vendor when necessary.
- Acts as liaison between providers and technicians and between providers and administration.
- Fills in as technician when needed.
- Resolves patient complaint’s or refer to appropriate resource.
- Manages/monitors clinic flow, physical distancing and disinfection procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school Diploma/GED.
- Three (3) years’ experience as an ophthalmic technician and some supervisory or related administrative experience.
- Must have Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification from Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) or obtain within 18 months of start date.
