HR Business Partner | Talent Management (MPC-Gulfport)

The Talent Management Business Partner supports the execution of talent strategies by working with business leaders and HR teams to identify talent needs, drive employee development, and support succession planning and organizational growth. This role is responsible for:

• Leadership and employee development programs and strategies
• Onboarding, leader integration, and teambuilding
• Talent identification and succession planning
• Employee and team development and engagement

This position is part of the system Talent Management team within Human Resources. This position reports to the MPC Talent Management Manager and will support both Southern Company-wide initiatives and Mississippi Power Company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the engagement, growth, and retention of Mississippi Power employees by partnering with Talent Management leaders and the TM team to shape and execute talent management initiatives.
  • Leverage assessments, talent reviews, and other inputs to help leaders identify high-potential and technical talent.
  • Collaborate with Talent Management, Human Resources, and business leaders to research, develop, coordinate, and deliver leadership development and employee enrichment curriculum, as well as other learning opportunities outside of formal training (e.g., self-directed learning, on-the-job training, job shadowing)
  • Support annual and ongoing talent identification and bench-strength processes across Mississippi Power organizations.
  • Serve as a project manager by coordinating multiple development programs and related initiatives concurrently.
  • Serve as an expert consultant and advisor by providing guidance and support to leaders and human resources partners on talent development.
  • Partner with the HR Analytics team to measure, monitor, and track workforce health and progress; provide data and insights for routine and ad hoc talent management reporting.
  • Evaluate the business impact of talent management activities and identify opportunities to enhance effectiveness.
  • Collaboration with Talent Management partners across Southern Company
  • Manage vendor relationships with external service providers.
  • Manage and deliver Talent Management projects from initiation through completion.

Job Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field preferred
  • At least 3 years’ HR experience, specifically in talent management, HR delivery, training and development and/or talent acquisition; 5 years preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes development and implementation of talent management products or services, particularly focused on talent identification and assessments; succession planning including talent reviews; leadership and employee development; consulting; workforce analytics and program management.
  • Demonstrated project management capability (e.g., defining scope, coordinating with stakeholders inside and outside of Human Resources, meeting deadlines, and managing budgets)
  • Experience organizing, leading, or launching cross functional programs strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of talent management and Human Resources disciplines, including industry standards and best practices
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and adult learning methods
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data accurately, translate findings into actionable insights, and develop programs or recommendations based on results; accuracy in reporting is essential.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with peers and internal customers at all levels.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation, and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and consulting skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while demonstrating initiative and personal accountability. Must be able to work independently, prioritize, and manage concurrent projects with a high volume of work with a high level of accuracy. 
  • Ability to plan and adapt to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, including developing and delivering presentations.
  • Ability to apply creativity and innovation to continuously improve programs and processes.
