Job Summary
Alluvionic is seeking a a Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) Auditor who will ensure that travel expenses and reimbursements within the United States Marshals Service (USMS) comply with established laws, regulations, and guidelines.

Clearance Required:  Yes – Obtain a Public Trust
Travel is Required: As Needed

Audit Travel Claims:
  • Review and audit federal employee travel expense reports and claims to ensure compliance with the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR) and other relevant guidelines.
  • Validate documentation and receipts associated with travel, ensuring expenses are legitimate, reasonable, and necessary.
  • Identify discrepancies, unauthorized expenses, or non-compliance with travel policies.
Ensure Compliance:
  • Stay updated with the FTR and related government travel policies to ensure all audit procedures align with current laws and regulations.
  • Ensure employees adhere to government travel allowances, per diem rates, lodging, and transportation guidelines.
  • Advise and guide employees on proper travel procedures and allowable expenses based on the FTR.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, discrepancies, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of audits conducted and any subsequent follow-ups.
  • Communicate audit results to management, finance departments, and relevant parties.
Coordination with Other Departments:
  • Offer consultation on complex or unusual travel situations to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with finance, human resources, and other relevant departments to ensure seamless travel management and accurate reimbursement processes.
  • Assist in periodic internal and external audits related to travel expenses.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Over one year of experience understanding FTR policies, including per diem rates, travel allowances, and other federal travel requirements.
  • Over one year of experience evaluating complex travel claims and identifying discrepancies or non-compliance.
  • Over one year of experience ensuring accuracy in travel audits and documentation.
  • Ability to explain findings and guide travel regulations to staff and management.
  • Understanding of budgeting, accounting, and finance related to government travel expenses.
  • Capacity to develop solutions for compliance issues or irregularities found during audits.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior E2, Concur, or the Defense Travel System (DTS) experience.
