Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Manages admissions for a portfolio of programs and oversees recruitment, evaluation, programming, and reporting across assigned master’s programs.
- Leads overall master’s admissions strategy and operations in collaboration with the Director of Master’s Enrollment, with oversight for annual admissions reading training, admissions timeline management, and MESA admissions committees.
- Serves as a senior leader to the department and in an advisory role on master’s admissions within the division to the Director and Dean of Admissions.
- Recruits and/or evaluates applicants for master’s admission by interviewing, reading applications and summarizing evaluations. Completes these tasks independently or with some guidance and instruction from others.
- Conducts college and university visits, attends college fairs, and hosts presentations either virtually or by travel. Admissions travel may be either domestic or international and last 4-6 weeks over the course of a year.
- Builds strong internal relationships and serves as a liaison on master’s admissions to faculty and division staff across the University.
- Establishes and manages partnerships with external constituencies, including colleges and universities worldwide, to build a robust pipeline of talented candidates into UChicago master’s programs.
- Participates in special projects such as developing marketing materials, monitoring budgets, and recruiting underrepresented groups with moderate/high levels of authority.
- Coordinates staff among various teams across the department, division, and University to appropriately execute programs and initiatives.
- Maintains relationships with all individuals involved in the recruitment process, including routinely counseling students regarding the admission process.
- Responds to inquiries via phone and e-mail providing a positive experience for all who interact with department.
- Weekend and evening availability is expected throughout the year for some aspects of the position including application review, travel, and admissions events.
- May manage student workers and/or full-time staff.
- Designs plans to increase brand awareness and alumni engagement as it relates to the College's admissions in the relevant region. Develops relationships with high schools and school counselors in the area. Plans and attends yield events, information sessions, and college fairs.
- Manages regional event programming such as receptions and career trek field trips for students. Works independently to expand outreach to employers in the region.
- Performs other related work as needed.
