Job Description
 

The Deputy General Counsel, US Commercial and Legal Operations serves as the primary legal leader and strategic advisor supporting Fuze Health’s patient services business, Fuze Services.  Operating at the center of digital services and patient interface, this role is deeply embedded in the company’s revenue generation and growth strategy.

The Deputy General Counsel will act as a leader in counseling and negotiating commercial contracts, advising on product offerings and as well as  marketing programs and communications.  

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Commercial Transactions

  • Architect and negotiate enterprise-level agreements that support the growth of the Fuze Services.

  • Growth Enablement: Evaluate a wide range of products and programs to insure legal and regulatory compliance, particularly FDA and HIPPA. Support direct to patient offerings, including test kit and affinity group products.

  • Regulatory Leadership: Function as the internal regulatory gatekeeper for Fuze Services, ensuring growth initiatives remain compliant and defensible under relevant federal laws and state laws. Insure product offerings align with payor mandates. Advise on issues relating to US based testing.  

  • Fraud & Abuse: Routinely evaluate and mitigate exposure related to the federal Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), and state analogs.

Marketing Leadership:

  • Create and manage a system for review of marketing and communications content across all of Fuze Health, including claims substantiation and intellectual property use.

Leadership & Operational Oversight

  • Team Management: Oversight of attorneys and other legal professionals supporting Fuze Services and Legal Operations. 

Vendor Management:

  • Oversee critical operational agreements across Fuze Services.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education & Licensure: J.D. from an accredited law school and active license in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

  • Experience: 12–14 years of legal experience in healthcare (law firm and in-house experience highly preferred).

  • Regulatory Experience: Deep subject matter expertise in health care regulatory frameworks.

  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated history of operating as a lead negotiator for complex, revenue-impacting enterprise deals within the healthcare ecosystem.

  • Subject Matter Knowledge: Working knowledge of payor/PBM contracting, corporate practice of medicine, reimbursement economics, and healthcare fraud-and-abuse laws (AKS, FCA).

  • Leadership: Proven management skills with experience leading attorneys, collaborating across cross-functional executive teams, and driving enterprise-level legal strategy.

  • Working Style: Exceptional communication and judgment, with the ability to provide rapid-turn analysis on enterprise deals  and assess strategic risk beyond black-letter contract issues.
