Electrical Designer - Power Utility

About the role

Pennoni is hiring!  We are looking for an Electrical Designer to contribute to our power distribution projects for industrial & commercial clientele on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Newark, DE.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design of industrial & commercial electrical power distribution systems / equipment (up to 35kv / 35,000 volts).
  • Prepare electrical single-line diagrams as well as electrical arrangement & circuit drawings using knowledge and experience of relevant equipment (such as motors, motor starters & disconnects, transformers, MCC’s, VFD’s, etc.)
  • Ensure that our work is NEC-compliant.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

 

 

Basic Requirement:

  • 5+ years of professional experience working in Electrical Design and/or Utilities.

 

Please note that we are willing to consider a higher-level position for a candidate that qualifies with additional experience accordingly.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training in Electrical Engineering Technology; completion of an Electrical Engineering-oriented degree is a plus!
  • Experience working on electrical / power projects, especially with electrical distribution systems.
  • Advanced understanding of the National Electric Code [NEC], especially with the preparation of compliant system and component specifications.
  • Exposure to PV solar design and/or lighting audit projects is a plus.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineered diagrams.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.:  CADD, BIM, etc.); experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit is a plus!
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment (with both co-workers and clients) with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to demonstrate a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
