Responsibilities

As a Nurse Case Manager, you’ll oversee comprehensive case management for assigned workers' compensation cases, ensuring claimants receive the best possible care while managing costs and driving positive outcomes.

  • Medical Case Management: Develop individualized treatment plans to facilitate optimal recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

  • Claims Support: Act as a resource for claimants, adjusters, physicians, employers, and attorneys, fostering non-adversarial relationships.

  • Medical Oversight: Review all medical records to assess treatment necessity, appropriateness, and effectiveness.

  • Field Work & Travel: Conduct on-site visits to claimants, physician offices, and district clinics, providing hands-on support.

  • Compliance & Documentation: Maintain case files per CCMSI guidelines, documenting all care, treatment plans, and cost-saving measures.

  • Collaborative Teamwork: Participate in team roundtables, medical reviews, and strategic discussions to enhance claim resolution.

Qualifications

What You Bring to the Table:

 

Must-Have Skills:

  • Current Michigan RN License

  • Prior Nurse Case Management experience in workers' compensation, trauma, rehabilitation therapy, or occupational medicine

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal)

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Outlook

  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and organizational skills

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation regulations in Michigan

  • Experience coordinating independent medical evaluations and treatment referrals

  • Team Collaboration: Effectively participate in medical reviews, physician visits, district clinic engagements, and case discussions.

  • Cost Management: Identify and document cost savings through proactive medical oversight and intervention.
