About the role
Medical Technologists: VCU Health System Authority (Tappahannock, VA) seeks Medical Technologists (multiple openings) to provide accurate and timely testing and results to requesting physicians and other health care professionals for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Demonstrate competent performance of laboratory testing within the clinical setting by performing diagnostic testing independently with accuracy, precision, and efficiency according to policies, procedures, and turn-around times. Provide accurate and timely testing results in accordance with laboratory policy by ensuring the proper function and maintenance of area instrumentation and troubleshooting instrument assays or analytical problems to prevent delays in patient testing. Facilitate a safe and cost-effective environment for providing quality patient care.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related. Must be certified as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent; -OR- Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) or equivalent ASCP Specialty or Categorical certification.
