Job Details:

Purpose: The Senior Student Associate will be responsible for digitizing materials from the Ransom Center collections and creating database records using prepared metadata. The successful candidate will work independently with moderate supervision. Performance will be evaluated based on productivity, quality, and reliability.

Responsibilities: The Digital Collection Services will provide detailed training on using Phase One digitization equipment (RGC180), Capture One software, and an overview of the digital imaging database.

  • Digitize collection materials, including flat and bound materials and photographs, to established standards using imaging capture equipment.
  • Process images using appropriate software such as Photoshop and Capture One.
  • Enter metadata into the database.
  • Page books from the HRC stacks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Required Qualifications:
Must be admitted to The University of Texas at Austin and enrolled as a student. To be eligible for the Student Associate position for summer, one must be enrolled in at least six semester hours during the previous Spring semester.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and solve problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with handling fragile library, archival, and museum materials.
  • Experience with digital cameras or other digitization equipment and software.

Salary:

$15 .00 per hour

Work Hours: 12.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Hours will be arranged based on the student's schedule and availability, while accommodating equipment availability and the digitization lab's needs.
