Summary of Position

The Director, Technical Accounting will prepare accounting memos for complex topics, including business combinations (ASC 805), goodwill assessments (ASC 350), and other non-routine matters. They will lead the development and maintenance of the Company’s ongoing accounting policies. The Director will partner with the external reporting team assessing the impact of new accounting standards, drafting applicable disclosures, and leading adoption / implementation projects. Additionally, they will support the business unit controllers and the company’s order-to-cash function with any particularly complex revenue recognition (ASC 606), including complex forms of variable consideration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting for business combinations (ASC 805)

  • Support accounting due diligence for acquisition targets

  • Review opening balance sheets and working capital adjustments

  • Review valuation and purchase price allocation reports

  • Prepare accounting memos documenting key accounting considerations and formalizing evidence of management review controls

  • Address inquiries from the Accounting, Internal Audit, and the external auditors

• Manage goodwill impairment assessments (ASC 350) and long-lived assets (ASC 360)

  • Monitor for triggering events between annual assessments

  • Review the Company’s forecasted cash flows by reporting unit, including procedures to validate they represent management’s best estimates

  • Review valuation reports and independently review key assumptions and inputs

  • Prepare accounting memos

• Serve as a senior leader and resource for any other accounting initiatives

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preference for actively licensed)

• 7-15 years of technical accounting experience

• Public accounting experience with Big 4 or top ten accounting firms, serving public companies / SEC registrant clients

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry experience with healthcare providers

• Master’s and/or MBA

•  Must demonstrate potential for career growth and upward mobility, potential succession opportunities for Business Unit Controller or Corporate Controller roles

**This is primarily a remote role however candidates must be within a commutable distance to one of the office locations listed for ad hoc, in person meetings (NYC, Chicago, DFW).

The base salary range for this position is $190,000 - $210,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements) listed here: Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
