About the role

The Role

In this role, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in the operation and maintenance of the company’s facilities. This role focuses on enhancing the efficiency of facility process and procedures and ensuring that facilities support the company’s business objectives. This role will use a variety of lean methodologies, and data analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.  In addition, the Engineer III will apply existing and new knowledge of Engineering Project Management to support multiple, high-pace projects across multiple functions.  This role also serves as the primary point of contact and lead for the company's insurance provider, managing and mitigating risks associated with facility operations.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across all facility operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.

  • Conduct regular assessments of facility operations to identify areas for procedural optimization.

  • Implement best practices in facilities management, including predictive maintenance, energy management, and space utilization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate facility improvements with business processes and goals.

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure facility performance against established benchmarks.

  • Utilize lean tools and Six Sigma techniques to drive process improvements and eliminate inefficiencies.

  • Coordinate with the facilities team to ensure that all projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on facility-related capital projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

  • Develop training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of facilities staff in areas such as maintenance practices, energy conservation, and safety protocols.

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practice adoption across different facilities within the company.

  • Analyze data and prepare reports to communicate the impact of improvement efforts to management and stakeholders.

  • Participate in the development of long-term facility planning, including lifecycle analysis and capital investment strategies.

  • Act as the primary point of contact and lead for the company's insurance provider, ensuring that all facility-related risks are properly identified, communicated, and mitigated.

  • Review and negotiate insurance terms to align with the company's risk profile and financial goals.

  • Responsible for managing specific 3rd party vendors, with a primary goal of driving improved vendor performance. This will be achieved by setting and monitoring appropriate expectations with vendors, proposing, developing, and utilizing insightful analytics, and executing vendor contracts.

  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Minimum 5 years Facilities and/or Engineering experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries required.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • cGMP facility experience preferred.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Professional certification in continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, is highly desirable.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate findings into actionable plans.

  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are required.  Expected to be able to present work to peers and cross-functional managers and influence leadership decisions.  Technical writing skills required.

  • Must be able use his/her technical background to investigate issues using a structured problem-solving approach to determine true root cause and develop effective corrective and preventative actions.  Must be able to be able to find true root cause and path forward for complex problems. Demonstrates strategic enterprise thinking, finding innovative ways to deliver results and build trust.

  • Must possess outstanding communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with enterprise-wide information systems for effective stakeholder management and communication.

  • Ability to interact well with other groups and must be able to take ownership of and follow through on assignments.  Must be able to drive results on multiple complex assignments simultaneously with minimal required direction from his/her supervisor.<
