Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Mechanical Engineer located in California Milpitas.
Reporting to the Director, Engineering Services, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, validating, and implementing innovative and cost-effective product solutions of complex scope to support the organization in prototype development through full-scale production.
What a typical day looks like:
- Designing and implementing automation equipment.
- Developing project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
- Know and understand the project scope, specifications, and any regulatory requirements that are applicable to the machine being developed.
- Performing detailed mathematical calculations to establish manufacturing and installation standards and specifications.
- Coordinate with and consult automation engineers to design, lay out, detail components on new and existing equipment.
- Work with automation engineers to help debug interactions between mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
- Attend meetings, including project status and review meetings, and acceptance meetings.
- Assessing project requirements and researching to meet those requirements.
- Ensuring a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments.
- Design of mechanical fixtures, adapters, and custom equipment.
- Testing, evaluating, modifying, and re-testing the designed hardware.
- Writing reports, bill of materials, installation drawings and technical documentation.
- Communicate and interface with engineers, designers, and operations managers.
- Deploying systems at customer facilities and gathering requirements.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Material science background
- 3 years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role.
- CMM equipment (Zeiss and OGP), Strain Gauge using Site tester, X-Ray and Micro CT analysis, shadow moiré, and reliability chambers (Halt/Hass chamber, Temp/Humidity chamber, IPX).
- Maintained great collaboration with customers from requests to report discussion
- Write technical reports independently
- Execute reliability and failure analysis tests
- Use CAD software to create useful fixturing for the lab or for customer
- 3D printing parts
- Lead ISO/IEC 17025 2017 certification in the lab
- Maintaining now ISO/IEC 17025 2017 per quality manual
- Create procedures for the Lab Quality Manual for the ISO 17025 certification
- Participate Lab Gemba walks with the team
- Takes care of maintenance and PM of the tools
- Execute Lab Roadmap, Capex equipment acquisition
- Support section for Site Monthly newsletter
- Utilize Six sigma methodologies
