About the role

Position Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will act as a strategic business partner to management providing effective and professional level HR Generalist support services across the organization. In conjunction with the Leadership team, the HRBP will be responsible for the successful delivery of key HR Programs including development, implementation and management of processes and systems for the Methanex Geismar facility.

Position Responsibilities

• Coaches and guides employees, supervisors and managers with respect to the application of human resources policies, procedures, processes, tools and relevant legislation.
• Develops, reviews and maintains foundational human resource policies, guidelines and tools, ensuring legislative compliance.
• Supports and advises employees, supervisors and managers within a variety of employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary notices, performance management and performance improvement plans.
• Works closely with management and employees of assigned business areas to understand the challenges/issues of the department, improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
• Manages all aspects of end-to-end employment for Methanex Geismar, including recruitment and selection, onboarding and offboarding, liaising with third party vendors as needed.
• Supports HR leadership with strategic workforce planning and development initiatives.
• In conjunction with the relevant managers, supports the implementation of applicable change management processes end to end.
• Proactively supports and coaches managers to take ownership of HR initiatives throughout the business, including the performance management, annual compensation review and talent management processes.
• Provides coaching to supervisors and managers with respect to leadership and people management strategies.
• Supports global assignments, maintaining regular communication with Global Mobility, to ensure employees are inducted and relocated safely and effectively.
• Provides support with relocation, immigration and visa processes for Global Assignments when required.
• Participates, collaborates or leads the identification, development, implementation and maintenance of various strategic HR initiatives and projects.
• Provides advice and guidance on payroll, remuneration and employee benefit plans to employees and supports accurate processing of payroll.
• Guides leaders on the development and implementation of workforce plans across their areas, using HRIS metrics as needed.
• Supports the health and well-being of employees, working with the Occupational Nurse as appropriate.
• Supports and advocates for employees to ensure their concerns are promptly addressed and resolved.
• Participates, collaborates or leads continuous improvement and operational excellence activities related to all areas of human resources practice at Methanex Geismar.
• Acts as the Program Owner providing oversight and leadership to appointed areas of specialization. Accountable for program design and administration of one of the following areas:
o Compensation & Benefits including Compensation Planning, Health and Welfare Benefits Administration, Annual Open Enrollment, 401(k) Plan Administration and Leave of Absence Administration.
o Staffing, Recruitment & Turnarounds including Recruitment, University Recruitment, Summer Internship Program, Management Of Change, Onboarding Programs, Immigration and HR TAR Support.
o Learning & Development including Performance Management, Talent Management, Competency Assurance Program, Graduate in Training Program, Employee Culture Survey and Dallas/Geismar U.
• Maintains current knowledge of USA Human Resources legislation practices and trends.
• Conducts all business in a manner which supports the Responsible Care® ethic.
• Reinforces Methanex culture and values through customer service and employee interface.
• Networks with other Methanex sites to the mutual benefit of all sites.
• Responsible for ensuring awareness of all controlled documents relating to this position as per Document Awareness Report from Document Management Database.
• Contribute to the ‘operational excellence’ for Methanex USA Services LLC as an effective member of the Human Resources Department.
• Leads annual compliance reporting for governmental agencies and ensure timely filing and employee content distribution as required in areas of specialization.
• Supports HR Leadership with annual audit requests including employee data collection, reports and documentation.
• Maintains organized and well documented employee records and program documents in SharePoint to ensure ongoing accessibility and recall for audit processes.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
