The Financial Planning & Analysis Director will play a key role in providing financial and related operational support to Cengage businesses. You will be responsible for driving financial budgeting, planning, modeling, strategy, forecasting and reporting. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborates with teams, uses data for problem-solving, communicates effectively with all levels. This role will report to the Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis.

What you'll do here:

  • Use driver based models and data analytic tools like Power BI, Snowflake, and Excel for financial planning to enable data driven insights and accurate prediction of future performance.

  • Support the development, execution, and refinement of School's Prepublication strategy to align with organizational goals and market opportunities.

  • Assist in advancing School's Prepublication return on investment by managing performance, seeing opportunities and providing insights.

  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of the 5-Year Plan for Prepublication, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and long term strategic priorities.

  • Collaborate cross functionally with Finance, Marketing, Sales and Product teams to advise planning, investment decisions, and strategic trade offs.

  • Provide analytical support for ad hoc financial projects and strategic initiatives as requested by business unit leadership

Skill's you will need here:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience in financial planning, financial modeling, and financial strategy

  • Solid understanding of financial modeling, analysis, and reporting

  • Proficiency in financial planning and analysis software and tools such as PowerBI and Snowflake

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Effective communication and presentation skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership

  • Demonstrate leadership and team management skills

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field

  • Professional certifications such as CFA or equivalent experience, CPA, or CMA

  • Prior experience in the K-12 industry, working in a business unit and matrixed organization

  • Experience in financial planning and analytics function

  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions activities, including due diligence and integration

  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and influencing decision-making at various levels of an organization

  • Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools

  • Strong project management and organizational skills
