Job Description

On the Professional Service Team, Solutions Architects engage on high value, strategic, and technically complex projects to provide technical solution design and build oversight. You will ensure that any solutions built meet Shopify’s high standards for quality, meet the needs of the merchant, and enable our largest merchants to grow and succeed on the platform.

Specific duties include:

• Engaging with stakeholders from our enterprise level merchants, partnering to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Architecting overall solutions, from front-end to backend design, by leveraging different experts on the team; Ensuring all moving pieces fit well together and are accepted by relevant stakeholders
• Working on a wide range of project sizes and types, from end-to-end site implementations to focused consults
• Acting as a Shopify subject matter expert in the application ecosystem, integrations, platform and design/development processes
• Owning and updating architecture documentation throughout the progress of the engagement to ensure solutions are accepted and understood by all stakeholders
• Identifying and helping to scope and architect platform changes, working with internal Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Aligning with product and RnD teams on future roadmaps and sharing feedback on released features and client trends
• Mentoring and coaching other Merchant-facing teams at Shopify on technical aspects of our platform

Qualifications

• You have a deep understanding of technical strategy as it relates to operating and growing commerce businesses
• You have a great deal of experience working with highly technical and executive level audiences
• You bring technical architecture, integration, and development expertise
• You're highly adept at gathering, inferring and interpreting complex business requirements from merchants and translating those to technical requirements and solutions both in and outside of the Shopify platform
• You have eCommerce experience and knowledge of latest trends (storefront implementation, omni-channel, supply chain, B2B, etc.)
• You have solid understanding of cloud-based technologies and SaaS fundamentals
• You bring strong API knowledge (REST and GraphQL) for enterprise integrations
• You excel in troubleshooting and bring analytical skills combined with the desire to tackle challenges head-on
• You have a passion for building from the ground up and share your expertise with the broader team
• You are comfortable with ambiguity and have the ability to prioritize competing demands and goals

​​Bonus Experience:

• Deep knowledge of the Shopify platform, business, and structure
• Hands-on experience with UX design and React application design
• Extensive experience in pre-sales solutions engineering or consulting
• Experience working in a Professional Services or Agency environment
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Github)
