The Position
Through partnership with the Medical Affairs Executive Director, the Field Directors and the Home Office Medical Strategy and Operations team, the US Medical Affairs Therapy Area Alignment Director (TAAD)supports the achievement of our scientific and medical strategies serving as part of the respective US Field Medical Affairs Leadership Team. The TAAD works on the continuous development and improvement of cross-functional alignment, medical account planning, systems and processes impacting US Medical Affairs to ensure that work is uniform, complete, and consistent with relevant Guidance documents and SOP's. The Alignment Director holds primary responsibility (along with the ED) for integrating TA/MM strategy within their respective therapeutic area and in collaboration with other functions, to ensure optimal execution. The position is responsible for ensuring the execution of medical and stakeholder strategies and action plans to support the existing portfolio and pipeline products, at an area/regional/territory level aligned to the scientific and commercial objectives of the company. Additionally, the position will lead the coordination and management of the business planning process and output, analysis of insight and identification of key themes and trends that are shared across regions.
Relationships
This position reports to the Executive Directors of Field Medical Affairs. Manages an Associate Director Strategy Support Role. The position will also collaborate extensively with the Field Directors, Home Office Medical Strategy & Operations team, Commercial and functions that are responsible for processes, tools and systems that enable the field, the Field Medical Team and respective peers.
Essential Functions
- Field Execution
- Partners with Executive Directors in preparation and execution of the area business plans, performing data/insight analysis to identify Area/region/territory specific opportunities
- Ensures the Medical Team is effectively executing the strategic and tactical elements of the annual Medical Affairs Plans and that any regional initiatives align to National Plans and priorities
- Ensures regions have the resources, tools and support/training necessary to employ local market agility
- Partners with Executive Directors, Field Directors, and Training Team in execution of regional meetings
- Ensures cross functional stakeholder alignment to strategic execution
- Development and execution of stakeholder projects and pilots in coordination with the Core Medical Team (CMT), CMR, Commercial and global
- Partners with MSO in the generation and interpretation of Veeva data (execution and insight)
- Partners with MSO in updating Veeva interface
- Responsible for measuring and reporting on impact of FMA including the support of NNI clinical trial programs, e.g., MARC
- Responsible for the continuous development and improvement of cross-functional alignment and medical account management for their respective team
- Participate in resource planning, policy development, and implementation of Field Medical Affairs goals and objectives
- Responsible for capturing and instilling best practices across the Functional Teams in an effort to optimize execution
- Partner with the Executive Director and Team Leads to lead the activities that support building culture and maximize in-field performance
- Communication
- In partnership with MSO and the ED, responsible for executing regional communications, with a goal of streamlining, simplification and consistency of communications
- Ensures cascade of area information throughout the respective regions, preferably via Medical Solutions
- Serves as the liaison for regional communications between field and home office serving as the conduit from the region to key areas of the business internally
- Partners with MSO in describing the impact of medical affairs across the org
