General Description:
The Senior Medical Director, US Medical Affairs for Hematology will report directly to the Executive Medical Director, US Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area Lead-Hematology. She/he will be responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of the US medical strategy for the responsible asset. The primary focus will be to lead and ensure execution of all programs and functions associated with the assigned Hematology program. In addition to leading the US strategy and executional elements of phase IV (post-marketing) and investigator-initiated studies programs, the role includes broad collaboration with colleagues from clinical development and commercial, in particular for US launch preparation and execution, and to ensure that cross-functional plans and activities benefit from the insight of an experienced clinician (MD preferred).
The incumbent will apply scientific rigor and data-driven approaches to evidence generation and insight synthesis to inform and support business decisions for assigned hematology product(s), as well as healthcare decision-making by patients, physicians, and payers. This role requires strong strategic planning and execution, collaboration, and clear communication skills to work effectively across internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions of the job:
- Leads the cross-functional US Medical Affairs team for Hematology for the asset; develops and updates, as needed, the overall asset US Medical Plan, including
- Medical launch strategic and tactical plans.
- Integrated evidence generation plans, incl. but not limited to medical affairs clinical studies, Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) and RWD.
- Advisory board plans.
- External engagement plans.
- Scientific communication: publication plans, congress presentations, US Field Team (FMD, MVO, RMSL) materials.
- Medical Education plans.
- Assesses the needs and coordinates compassionate use for the asset.
- Drives the execution of medical tactics and deliverables, in collaboration with other medical and non-medical functions as needed and appropriate.
- Reviews and assesses relevant IIS proposals as per BeOne IIS review process and ensures it is consistent with the asset strategy and identified data gaps.
- Prepares and leads/co-leads scientific advisory board meetings
- Develops and maintains interactions and collaborations with US therapeutic experts and scientific entities
- In close collaboration with the GMA Patient engagement & Professional Societies Lead and the Corporate patient advocacy group, actively supports BeOne engagement of patients and patient groups and incorporates insights from these stakeholders into all relevant plans and tactics.
- Represents BeOne Medicines in peer-to-peer interactions with external collaboration partners, including in patient-company interactions.
Required Qualifications:
- MD, PharmD, PhD with 6+ years of overall experience including 5+ years' experience and success in Medical Affairs and/or the biotech/pharmaceutical industry or clinical research.
- Relevant clinical and scientific knowledge in the hematologic malignancy space.
- Several years of clinical oncology experience in hematologic malignancies, preferred.
- Experience with developing and executing medical plans/tactics and customer engagement strategies.
- Previous launch experience for hematology/oncology products.
- Strong knowledge of the overall drug development process.
- Track record of organizing and leading medical advisory boards.
- Experience with collaborating and operating successfully in a matrix and multicultural environment.
- Experience with working in inter-company alliances setting, preferred.
- Solid communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills and business acumen.
Travel:
- Ability to engage in work-related travel up to 30%
