JOB SUMMARY & KEY OBJECTIVES:

The Quality Assurance Specialist will work with the Sr. Quality Assurance Manager to ensure implementation,  maintenance, and compliance of the quality program for the organization.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and review of corporate quality assurance documents including product specifications, forms, labels, SOPs, quality policies, HACCP, FSPs, and food defense plans
  • Assist In completion of regulatory and customer quality document requests including maintaining customer quality document portals
  • Work with Sr. Quality Assurance Manager to respond and trend complaints associated with consumers and business to business customers
  • Verify all incoming ingredient COAs and review for compliance
  • Assist Sr. Quality Assurance Manager with external inspections and auditors including customers, FDA, and SQF for food safety and other related issues
  • Provide support to management with compliance of food safety and quality issues, resolutions and corrective actions
  • Review, verify, and update  item masters, production recipes, and QC specifications in the corporate ERP system 
  • Assist Sr. Quality Assurance Manager with the implementation of new recipes and follow up on any modifications needed after the first scale up production run 
  • Work in conjunction with the Sr. Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the equipment calibration schedule is followed and preseason tests are completed.  This includes but is not limited to magnets, vacuum gauges, water testing, mock recall, food defense tests, and other 
  • Work with Sr. Quality Assurance Manager on special projects to improve the quality and food safety of products
  • Serve as a member of the Food Safety Committee and implement action items from committee meetings
  • Learn all quality tasks required to be able to assist
  • in the facility laboratories as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science or previous experience working in a food manufacturing facility
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Familiarity with FSMA and SQF
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work with various people of differing cultures and backgrounds
