Product Development Co-op - Radio Frequency Ablation 

 

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student pursuing an engineering degree to support the Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) Engineering team at Arthrex in Naples, FL.  The RFA team is responsible for supporting engineering efforts related to the development and manufacturing operations for Arthrex RFA products. The successful candidate will engage, develop, and document product development activities for RF surgical probes and equipment with guidance from the engineering staff.  The individual will perform various test methods including development of new test methods and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation of these test methods. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner.  Join our talented team at a global medical device company focused on Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™.

 

This co-op will run from July 2026 - December 2026.  The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

 

Main Objective:

Co-op will work with the Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) surgical probe department to gain experience in research, design, testing, and manufacturing of medical devices.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine types of tests to be performed to adequately evaluate product performance.
  • Apply principles learned in school to hands-on situations, such as strength analysis, functional testing, failure analysis and documentation of results.
  • Develop CAD models for prototype designs and test fixturing.
  • Assist with research, testing & analysis.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for consumable manufacturing and evaluation.
  • Attend regular departmental meetings and training sessions, symposiums, etc. as required.
  • Review and perform systems analysis, testing, and documentation for various product lines.
  • Participate in assigned projects including improvement analysis for new products or applications and develop requirements and specifications with team.
  • Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support peers, project team members, and other departments with new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering, or a recent engineering graduate, required.  Students studying Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering preferred.
    (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements /Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Ability to effectively communicate, oral and written, and possess the ability to work through technical issues.
  • Statistical analysis experience in tools such as MiniTab preferred.
  • Experience in design software, such Solidworks preferred.
  • Prior experience with LabVIEW preferred.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB preferred.
