As an Accounting Analyst Sr, you will play a crucial role in providing expertise and leadership in preparing and reviewing financial information for management decision-making or external reporting. You will use your experience, innovation and judgment to handle a diverse range of sophisticated assignments as you lead and mentor others. Your responsibilities will also include looking for ways to optimize business processes through technology and automation, improving efficiency and reducing costs. Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Performs assigned month-end activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, management reporting, SEC reporting and variance analysis
- Prepares, maintains and develops schedules, reports and analyses for internal/external customers with guidance only in complex situations
- Provides and reviews requested documentation and clear explanations for both internal and external audit processes
- Leads projects as team or Project Lead with moderate resource requirements and complexity
- processes and analyzes significant amounts of data, including issues and transactions
- Understands and documents sophisticated processes, computerized accounting systems, and automation tools
- Researches and recommends system and process improvements and enhancements
- Solves system issues between Accounting, IT, and other impacted departments as needed to ensure accurate and timely closes
- Facilitates and aids with audit requirements for both internal and outside auditors, including support of JV standalone audits
- Prepares journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Years of Experience:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related major with a strong accounting focus and minimum six (6) years experience in accounting in the energy industry
- Preferred: accounting and data analytics/automation and/or CPA
Other Requirements:
- Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications
- Preferred: Experience with Oracle Cloud Services, Essbase and PowerBI
- Ability to understand and work with sophisticated processes and accounting systems
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial skills
- Previous experience collaborating with senior leadership and reporting financial analysis
- Preferred: Familiarity with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
