Chargeback Senior Staff Accountant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Chargeback Senior Staff Accounting to join the GCN Store Accounting US team. This person will be responsible for analyzing and resolving chargeback disputes. This role will require an understanding of payment processing, fraud detection, and reconciliation, as well as the ability to work closely with various departments to mitigate and prevent future chargebacks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Chargeback Management: Review, analyze, and respond to chargebacks and receipt requests and inquiries from credit card issuers and payment processors.
- Chargeback Responses: Help to implement the process for intake, review, and response to chargeback and receipt request inquiries
- Dispute Resolution: Gather relevant transaction details, documentation, and evidence to respond to and dispute chargebacks within the allowed timeframe and as set by the Payment Brands and/or Circle K’s acquirers
- Investigation: Initial investigation into chargeback causes, including identifying potential fraud, Point of Sale errors, and customer dissatisfaction
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed records of chargeback activity
- Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with internal departments including Payment Systems, Retail Systems, and regional fraud prevention teams to identify root causes of chargebacks and implement corrective actions
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience (preferred):
- Experience in chargeback management, payment processing, or a related field.
- Familiarity with chargeback processes and dispute resolution.
- Experience with payment gateways, merchant accounts, and fraud detection systems is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge (preferred):
- Understanding of card network rules (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, etc.) and regulations.
- Familiarity with payment fraud prevention tools and chargeback mitigation techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with credit card acceptance and processing.

- This role may require working in a fast-paced office environment.
