Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking to hire an Electrical Engineer in our Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office. This unique and exciting position offers the opportunity to work in a developing practice with great growth opportunities, while receiving support from a global system practice which leads the nation in transit systems design.
This position is expected to begin in July 2024.
Understanding this is an entry-level position, it will be expected for the recent grad to have interest in learning the responsibilities of the position, which include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, calculations, and studies associated with power system.
- Prepare one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, and writing of substation equipment specifications.
- Learn to exercise of judgment on details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Learn to communicate well with others and support business development opportunities.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.).
- Experience in traction power or railroad design.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally to all AECOM, partner, and client office locations, including project offices, if applicable.
- Ability to perform site investigations and walk-downs in high-voltage substations and along electrified railroads.
- Interest/experience with Power System Design.
- Fundamentals of Engineering certification (FE) preferred or willingness to obtain the certification within 1 years of hiring date.
- Possess the ability or have the willingness to learn how to utilize CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, etc.).

- Your position will be hybrid with your primary work location in Philadelphia, PA. It is expected that you will report to your primary work location in accordance with the current AECOM remote work policy.
